Members of our Board of Directors are appointed to oversee the operations of Progress to Excellence Group. They bring with them a wealth of knowledge and expertise and collectively, drive forward our company objectives.

Meet our board members

Sandra Kirkham

Managing Director

Sandra Kirkham is Group Managing Director and has key responsibility for strategically driving Progress to Excellence Group Vision into market and within its Education and Training Provider businesses.

Sandra originally founded the business as a training consultancy business after a career in social services. However, her drive to deliver high quality training in the health, social care and business sectors resulted in her successfully delivering a growth strategy that resulted in the formation of Progress to Excellence Group.

Sandra is passionate about corporate social responsibility and has an ethos running throughout the Group of “giving something back” by supporting and encouraging all Group employees to be involved in charity fundraising and volunteering in their local communities.

She is a founder patron of The Hive Youth Zone in Birkenhead, is a mentor to CEOs working in the voluntary sector and regularly speaks about CSR at regional third sector events.

Chair of the Board at Wirral Chamber of Commerce, Sandra is a proud ambassador of the Chamber and companies like Progress to Excellence Group which are helping to create economic prosperity for the region as well as working to build a strong business community.

Oliver Barkes

Group Financial Director

Oliver has worked as an Accountant and Corporate Treasurer for a number of companies including WPP Group and Avery Dennison and was Group Treasurer of Polestar. He has also worked as a Finance Director/Consultant in the education sector for the last 10 years. Oliver is a full member of both the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and Association of Corporate Treasurers.

Oliver’s role includes taking a strategic approach towards the overall financial operations of Progress to Excellence Group and the various subsidiaries within it. Oliver works closely with Sandra to drive forward the business objectives and growth strategy.

Lynn Lock

Group Business Development Director

Lynn has over 25 years proven expertise in business development and sales, with extensive knowledge of Work Based Learning, Welfare to Work, apprenticeships and the relevant funding streams available. She is used to operating at director level within major national employer organisations, which cover a diverse range of industries including international blue-chip companies.

Lynn has the drive, ambition and ability to inspire others to be the best they can be, and uses her interpersonal skills and positive, professional approach to help forge and then develop strong business relationships.

Her role with Progress to Excellence Group will see her combine her experience and passion of working in the education and training sector, with her business development accruement to help drive forward the business development objectives of the company and within in, each of its subsidiaries.

Dave Murray

Commercial Director

Dave brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience relating to the construction and maritime industries. He has also worked in the FE sector, delivering maritime and pre-employability training to individuals throughout the Liverpool City Region for a number of years, after owning and growing his own business. Dave has forged strong working relationships with companies throughout the city region, and it is this strong local connection coupled with his knowledge of the construction sector which he brings with him to this role.

Dave thrives on opening doors and creating opportunities, and is motivated by achieving targets and motivating others to be successful.

His role with Progress to Excellence Group will see him grow and nurture the construction training arm of the Group, by using his knowledge and experience of this sector to help position each of the subsidiaries at the forefront of their industry.

Leanne Tutill

Group Financial Controller

Leanne has a wealth of financial experience and knowledge, having worked in the sector for 14 years. This includes 6 years in practice and 8 years in the education sector. Leanne’s particular area of expertise is ensuring a business is operating effectively and efficiently, by monitoring and improving internal controls.

Leanne’s role is to work with Progress to Excellence Group and its subsidiaries to ensure each business operates efficiently. Leanne also sits on the Progress to Excellence Ltd Board.

Marc Braterman

Board Member

Marc Braterman is an Investment Director for a2e Industries, advising CEO and Founder Amin Amiri on his investee companies. Marc joined a2e in 2017 and focuses on a2e’s transactions, both in the UK and across Europe, as well as providing strategic and financial support to the management teams of a number of investee companies. In this capacity, Marc sits on the PtoE Group Board offering strategic support and advice, with a strong focus on acquisitional activity.

Marc’s previous experience includes high-ranking financial positions in a Private Equity backed professional services firm, a large multi-national construction organisation and a top 100 UK accountancy practice.
